Symbolism in art

Symbolism was a late nineteenth-century art movement of French and Belgian origin in poetry and other arts. In literature, the movement had its roots in Les Fleurs du mal (The Flowers of Evil, 1857) by Charles Baudelaire. The works of Edgar Allan Poe, which Baudelaire greatly admired and translated into French, were a significant influence and the source of many stock tropes and images. The aesthetic was developed by Stéphane Mallarmé and Paul Verlaine during the 1860s and '70s. In the 1880s, the aesthetic was articulated through a series of manifestoes and attracted a generation of writers. The label "symbolist" itself comes from the critic Jean Moréas, who coined it in order to distinguish the symbolists from the related decadent movement in literature and art.

Distinct from, but related to, the movement in literature, symbolism in art represents an outgrowth of the darker, gothic side of Romanticism; but where Romanticism was impetuous and rebellious, symbolist art was static and hieratic.

Impressionism in art

Impressionism was a 19th-century art movement that began as a loose association of Paris-based artists whose independent exhibitions brought them to prominence in the 1870s and 1880s. The name of the movement is derived from the title of a Claude Monet work, Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant), which provoked the critic Louis Leroy to coin the term in a satiric review published in Le Charivari.

Characteristics of Impressionist paintings include visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. The emergence of Impressionism in the visual arts was soon followed by analogous movements in other media which became known as Impressionist music and Impressionist literature.

Impressionism also describes art created in this style, but outside of the late 19th century time period.

p.s. Mrs. Boy, the white spots on the sea is to represent the reflection of light and the drawing is actually to refer to mother's love which is far beyond defining and never-ending just like the horizon

Mother, your love is far beyond defining
It is like the secrets of mysteries of creation.
many wrong doings i have done and yet you are still forgiving
everyday without fail, you hug me and say "i love you, son"

Mother, your love endures what come may
and casts all my fears away.
Remember the day when I was too afraid to go to school?
Your love was the one that encourages me

Mother, now it is my turn to proclaim,
I love you now and always.

OR

Mother, your love is far beyond defining
It is something that defies all explanation
Your love is not selfish and never-ending
It endures what come may
and casts all my fears away
and mom I'm proud to claim,
I love you now and always

Tribute to Mother

Description: Sad moments disappearing into the dark room.
Mummy was my guardian angel, standing at the pathway, waiting for me.
-
You're my light,
Leading me a special path,
giving me hopes and dreams
that I never had before.

You're my moon in the dark sky,
brightening up my world like millions of fireflies.
You often cheer me up when I'm feeling down,
just by acting like a little clown.

Mummy,
You're an angel,
A guardian angel.
You're one of the special few,
that's why i love you
.

Dearest Mother

Dearest Mother,
As I look back on my life,
I find myself wondering
Did I remember to thank you
For all u have done for me?

For all the times you were by me side
To help me celebrate my successes
And accept my defeats?
Or for teaching the values of perseverance, determination and courage?

I wondered if I have ever thanked you for all these times.
The laughers, smiles and quiet times we shared.

If I have forgotten to express my gratitude for any of these times,
I am thanking you now and want to express my love for you!

And I’m hoping that you’ve known all along how very much you are appreciated!

Tribute to Mother

To my beloved mother,

Radiating life...

Ideal is what you are,

Bizzare but yet divine...

Unlike stone but velvet is what your heart's made of,

Together with love that never dies...

Each love you shower, I can see it through your eyes...

Tactful and always knowing what to say,

Observant in everyway...

Mother, you are just so extraordinary,

Oh, like a rose that smells so sweet!

Thank you for the unconditional love,

Hounoured to be your daughter, you're the best mother on Earth!

Everyday I remember you,

Rest assured, my words are true...

Tribute to Mother

Descriptions: Strict as she may seem to be, she's also beautiful; just like roses with thorns.

Dear mother,
There is no mother quite like you
There is no other, who better understands me like you do
That's you

You are the place where love
Emerges from the earth,
Happiness rings out like bells
In honor of my birth.

The bond and love a mother has with her daughter can never be lost
Since the day of birth
The bond can never severed
The love that last forever

You are just like the moon that shines
Upon my despair
You are just like the sun that brightens
Up my inner sky

Though I've made hurtful and wrong choices
You silently watched over me
I think I understand now,
The meaning of mom's silent prayers

I know how I hurt you with my words
Deeply, Emotionally
But it was not intentionally
I never meant to hurt you, really.

In your eyes,
In your tender hugs and long good byes
That's how love is shown
A love that only moms and daughters know

Thank you for loving,
Thank you for the gift of understanding,
Thank you for your years of love
Thank you for everything
